In Memory of Chris Susedik

Christopher Susedik, an instructor in the Culinary Arts program in the Cuisine Fine Dining Room (formerly, Gourmet 6) and active member of Local 212, passed away early in the morning on Saturday May 12th. Chris taught at MATC for 20 years.

Chris was a dedicated father, a committed and passionate teacher, and a good union man. He never missed a contract rally or a 212 social solidarity party.

After one party when Governor Doyle and Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton spoke, Chris stopped 212’s president, Michael Rosen, in the hall.

He said: “I told my kids that the Governor and Lieutenant Governor came to our party. That shows you the influence our union has. I am so proud of our union.”

At the social solidarity party Friday night, Rosen spoke about Chris. He said: “Chris can’t be here tonight. But his spirit is. That is the spirit that makes 212 the union that it is, the spirit you find in MATC’s classes and labs, the spirit that makes MATC the most important college in Milwaukee. You’re a good man Chris. Our thoughts are with you.”

Burial will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park, 3301 E. Forest Hill Ave, in Oak Creek at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 17. At 6:00 pm on Thursday, there will be a Memorial Service for Chris at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 3200 West Herman in Bayview. The family will be available for visitation from 4:00-6:00 pm before the service. There will be a meal after the Memorial Service at St. Luke's Church.
