AAS Degree Reconfiguration Postponed!
Message from Kathleen Cullen
Vice President Instruction, Student Services
and Economic Development
Last week the Instructional and Student Services Administrators met to discuss issues of importance to the WTCS. One of the items discussed was the restructuring of Applied Associate Degrees. It became apparent that some colleges need more time to complete the transition to the new structure. A number of colleges noted that even though they have spent a considerable amount of time on the restructuring as it relates to curriculum, they need time to revise the information that students receive, and for a small number of programs, they were still debating how they would handle the general education courses not on the system-wide list. Last, but not least, colleges are changing their IT systems to reflect the new structure, which adds more challenges.
The recommendation, unanimously approved, was to lengthen the time colleges have to transition to the new structure.
The deadline will be the 2007-08 academic year.
The System Office will continue to accept restructured program materials. Please refer to our website, which outlines the process for submitting both paper and electronic materials ( http://systemattic.wtcsystem.edu/instruction/default.htm)
We encourage colleges to submit program info as soon as it is ready for review and approval. As always, feel free to contact the education director responsible for specific programs with any questions you may have. |
