Governor Doyle Addresses AFT-WI

Video from October 26, 2007

In late October, immediately after signing Wisconsin 's budget, Governor Jim Doyle, addressed the state convention of the American Federation of Teachers. It was the first time a Governor had appeared at the organization’s state convention, a sign that AFT Wisconsin’s political influence continues to grow.

The Governor spoke passionately about the importance of Wisconsin 's technical colleges which he called the state's "doors of opportunity." He explained that he had vetoed the Republican inspired property tax levy freeze because it would have severely reduced technical college funding. Governor Doyle argued that investing in the education and training of our citizens is the key to growing the Wisconsin ’s economy and producing prosperity for the state’s working families.
