Governor Doyle
Appoints Mike Rosen to WTCS Board!

Governor Doyle chats with newly
appointed WTCS board member Dr. Rosen and MATC Instructor
and UW Board of Regent Jesus Salas
Dear Colleagues:
It is with great pleasure that I announce
to the MATC community the appointment by Governor Jim Doyle
of MATC Economics professor and AFT Local 212 President
Dr. Michael Rosen to the Wisconsin State Technical College
Board of Directors.
In announcing the appointment, Governor
Doyle said: “Michael Rosen is a highly respected professor
in the Milwaukee community who has wide-ranging support
from legislators, community organizations and labor. Dr.
Rosen has been a tireless advocate for the state's Technical
Colleges. He has shown long-term dedication to the economic
well-being of the state and has a long history of public
service. He will be an excellent member on the board."
Sheila Cochrane, former Chair of the MATC
District Board and current Secretary Treasurer of the Milwaukee
County Labor Council, said: “I can think of no one
who more passionately demonstrates an advocacy for the WTCS
system. Having worked with him in my capacity as a labor
representative and as past chair of the MATC board, Dr.
Rosen has demonstrated a knowledge of the system's funding
formula, educational mission and the need for continued
investment in the technical college system.”
In accepting the appointment Rosen said,
“ Wisconsin 's technical college system is one of the state's
greatest resources because we offer education and training
to the citizens who need them the most in our state.” Rosen
added, “I welcome the challenge of helping to guide this
system to become even more responsive to the needs of our
citizens and employers.”
The appointment of an MATC faculty member
and a strong advocate for the students MATC serves as great
news for the entire MATC community.
