AFT hits the streets for May Day
Workers across the country—and around the world—took to the streets for May Day (including 212, see above). AFT members were part of more than 800 events, and AFT President Randi Weingarten, Executive Vice President Evelyn DeJesus and Secretary-Treasurer Fedrick Ingram spoke at rallies in Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta, respectively. The message was clear: Workers will stand united to defend vulnerable members of our communities from attacks by this administration—because everyone deserves a safe, welcoming environment in which to learn, work and build a better life.
