Become a Local 212 Councilmember!

We are looking for members to join Local 212's Bargaining Unit Councils. Councilmembers will work with bargaining unit leadership on communications, advocacy and recruitment of nonmembers. For questions, contact your bargaining unit leaders. You can find contact info HERE

What is the role of those in a council?

  • Assist with organizing membership and recruiting new members

  • For example:

    • Help with planning, organizing and participating in membership events

    • Participate in outreach to those within your bargaining unit to increase membership

    • Work with VP of membership to create organizing plan and track progress

  • Assist with Communication by keeping members informed of what is going on

  • For example:

    • Provide information for 212 Tuesdays

    • Provide annual summary of activities and results to contribute to Local 212 annual report

  • Take the lead organizing and addressing issues affecting your bargaining unit

  • For example:

    • Hold listening and problem solving sessions for the bargaining unit

    • Coordinate social solidarity events

    • Actively participate in Local 212 issue activism and track progress

    • Identify talent and grow new leaders.

Please note these are only examples of the role. Individual councilmember contributions will be determined by working with the council leaders and other members.
