Local 212 VP MPBSJason Pinkowski

Jason is an Editor and Broadcast Engineer at Milwaukee PBS. He was born and raised in the Milwaukee area and has been a lifelong resident. Jason obtained his Associates Degree in Television Production from Milwaukee Area Technical College and now calls his first year instructor his co-worker!

Jason spent 3 years working at The Enterprise creating Real Estate Television, 6 months at CPI doing commercials, and 10 years at GE Med Systems doing educational programs and marketing videos. Jason also spent many years doing freelance gigs as the Video Crew Chief at the Marcus Amphitheater, technical direction at the US Cellular Arena, along with gigs for ABC, NBC, and CBS sports. He was asked back in 2004 to come speak to a class about his experiences, which led him into the edit suite to talk to the then ‘head editor’ at the station who informed him, “I’m retiring in the next year and they will need an editor…. Get that resume ready." Fast forward to 2005 when he started his career back where it all started as a student at Channel 10.

If you would have asked ANYONE 15 years ago if Jason would be a union organizer the answer would have been no. Over the years of listening to coworkers upset about things that were happening in the workplace, Jason’s compassion (and willingness to debate anything) led him to help re-organize the Milwaukee PBS Production and Engineering Staff under the 212 umbrella.

Jason is working to make the voice of the MPBS workers heard. You can contact Jason at jpinkowski@local212.org
