A strong union is built on connection, solidarity, and active member involvement. On Thursday, October 22, AFT Local 212 brought together more than 30 attendees for an evening of food and fellowship at our Social Solidarity Pizza Party. The event provided a great opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the college, meet union leaders and staff, share ideas and concerns, and learn more about ways to get involved in strengthening our union.
The gathering offered members a chance to learn about current workplace issues, the current status of Act 10, the importance of political action, and Local 212’s organizing efforts for the 2026-2027 school year. Most importantly, the event provided a chance to build relationships, support one another, and celebrate what we can accomplish when we stand together.
As part of our commitment to supporting the MATC community, Local 212’s Holiday Toy Drive officially kicked off at the pizza party and will continue through November 19th. Members donated new toys that will be distributed through the FAST Fund to make the holiday season brighter for the children of students at MATC.
If you couldn’t attend the pizza party but would still like to participate in the holiday toy drive, you can drop off your donation at the Local 212 office Monday through Thursday, until 3 PM through November 19. Those who donate, will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift card to Maggiano's and two tickets to the Milwaukee Public Museum.
