AFT Wisconsin Delegation at the AFT Great Lakes Regional Leaders Meeting, December 5-6, 2025. Chicago, IL
From K12 to Higher Ed, Healthcare to Public Employees, Paraprofessionals to Graduate Assistants, AFT Wisconsin’s delegation at the 2025 AFT Great Lakes Regional Leaders Meeting represented the depth and breadth of our state federation.
As part of that delegation, Local 212 President Lisa Conley took opportunities provided to speak up for causes that our members care about and to highlight the great work our members do every day for each other in our worksites, for our students in and out of the classroom, lab, shop or clinic, and in the communities from which they come.
Examples included: ensuring that addressing the plight of part-time faculty and professional staff, regulation of predatory for-profit colleges, and strengthening of intellectual property rights for on-line content creators were forwarded to the AFT’s Higher Ed organizing platform committee; showcasing as a presenter Local 212’s successful elections member mobilization activities and the impact of our FAST Fund, with the latter’s 9,068 students served since its 2016 inception statistic drawing resounding applause; and sharing from the general session floor a reminder for all that while the work we do is at times exhausting, we are not alone in our experiences or the fight for a better workplace and world, but part of a collective that must and will be there for each other with caring and community as our superpowers. That’s the strength and beauty of unions.
