Call For Independent Investigation On Summer Pay Documents

Local 212 has raised serious concerns regarding the handling of policy documents tied to part-time faculty summer pay. In a September 15 meeting with MATC leadership, administration suggested that Local 212 Vice President for Part-Time Faculty, Dewey Caton, had altered documents related to summer pay commitments. Local 212 strongly disputes this claim and has been requesting an independent investigation since June 2025 to determine whether Human Resources altered compensation policies without transparency.

Evidence presented by Local 212 in July indicated that compensation policy documents were modified by HR in May and June 2025. Since then, access to policy documents, document histories, and work team records has been restricted or removed from the myMATC portal. This issue impacts over 300 part-time faculty currently in the new pay system, as well as those who taught this past summer.

Local 212 has formally requested that MATC secure all relevant records and prohibit HR staff from altering or deleting documents until an independent review can be completed. As President Lisa Conley stated in her letter, “Human Resources cannot investigate allegations of its own alleged misconduct.” Local 212 awaits a written response from the College and will continue to press for accountability and fairness for part-time faculty.
