Standing Up for MPBS
Besides faculty and paraprofessionals at MATC, Local 212 also proudly represents the talented production staff and engineers at Milwaukee PBS. Public media isn’t just a station—it’s a vital, free, and accessible resource that serves every community, from rural towns to urban neighborhoods. Unlike commercial outlets, public media isn’t driven by profits or advertisers. It’s driven by a mission to educate, inform, and uplift neighbors.
Families trust Milwaukee PBS to deliver safe, research-based, and non-commercial children’s programming. With more than half of America’s children lacking access to formal pre-K programs, PBS KIDS helps fill that gap—supporting early learning and opening a world of possibilities for every child.
Milwaukee PBS is community-driven, created by and for the people of southeastern Wisconsin. Beloved local programs like Adelante, Black Nouveau, The Arts Page, and Rhythm Café MKE, along with powerful documentaries like A Hallowed Home for Heroes and The Great Circus Parade, inspire and connect us.
Federal support for public media is modest—just $1.60 per person, a mere 0.0073% of the national budget—but its impact is enormous. Together, we can stand up for public media and ensure it remains a trusted, essential service for generations to come.
We urge you to please contact your representative in congress to continue funding. But remember NOT to use your MATC work accounts or equipment should you choose to do so.
