What is ACT 10?
In 2011, Wisconsin became the center of the national labor movement during the 2011 Wisconsin protests. Act 10 significantly limited collective bargaining rights for most public employees, including educators and public service workers.
The law reduced unions’ ability to negotiate benefits and working conditions, increased employee contributions for healthcare and retirement, and led to major changes in public education and public sector employment across Wisconsin. More than a decade later, the impact of Act 10 continues to shape conversations about worker rights, public education, staffing shortages, and the future of unions in Wisconsin.
