Local 212 VP of Finances Danica Olson

Danica lives on the Eastside of Milwaukee with her husband of 20 years, Andy, and their two rescue cats Scotch and Ryelee. Danica attended Marquette University and obtained a BS in Accounting and MS in Human Resources Management. Before starting to teach full time at MATC, Danica worked a variety of accounting jobs from retail, banking, manufacturing to Accounting Director for the Milwaukee Bucks. Danica's a member of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has served as the chair of board from 2012-2013.

Danica is most proud of running the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program at MATC with her co-worker Nell Curtis. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VDanicaTA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $66,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. So far this tax season they have filed 125 tax returns, helping to bring in over $250,000 in federal and state refunds to their clients!

When Danica's not working, Danica plays tennis in a USTA league. Her team (Team Sangria) has won the WI state championship twice and gone on to earn 3rd place at Regionals. They recently traveled to Arizona (Team Fear the Beer) to play in the Margarita Cup and finished 4th out of 12 teams. Danica enjoys traveling to visit her nieces in Colorado Springs and parents and grandma in Florida. Fun Fact: Her grandmother is 102 (103 in April), still lives on her own, and makes her own pasta!
