PT Faculty EXPO

Thank you to all who attended Saturday's PT Faculty Expo! An engaged group of PT faculty colleagues enjoyed a few hours of learning, sharing, support, and camaraderie at the inaugural Part-Time Faculty Expo held on the Milwaukee on Saturday, March 4.

In addition to learning about the history of Local 212, the importance of building power through membership, recent “wins” and ongoing activism on the behalf of PT Faculty, attendees provided valuable feedback on what they consider to be the most pressing issues. These include low pay/ pay inequities, staffing shortages, hiring processes, course assignment irregularities, Blackboard requirements and the Ultra conversion, ensuring a seat at the table in departments / programs, and the need to build power through growing unit membership and solidarity within MATC and with other PT/contingent faculty in the area or beyond.

Special thanks to PT Faculty bargaining unit leaders Luz Sosa and Crash Crawford for coordinating the event, to 212 Office Manager Nicole Tudury and 212 EVP Bev Johnson for assisting with logistics, and to 212 President Lisa Conley for speaking. Thank you also to AFT-Wisconsin for co-sponsoring the event through its Member Mobilization Grant Program and to Brim catering for the good eats and great service.

And finally, thank you to our members whose dues in part support important events like these. Together we are stronger. Together we are Local 212!
